NFL Week 14 Review

Overall record heading into week 14 = 52-24

Thursday Night Football

CLE Browns lost to PIT Steelers by 11
Original prediction: Steelers to win by 14.

Even though I managed to get off to a 1-0 start, my prediction was never going to be right when the Steelers offence kept stumbling against the Browns D. Despite suffering an ankle injury Big Ben managed to see the game out and passed for a 79-yard TD to Antonio Brown in the 4th quarter.

Record = 1-0

6PM GMT Games

IND Colts lost to BAL Ravens by 14
Original prediction: Ravens to win by 21.
This would’ve been a perfect prediction if the Ravens had managed to not concede a TD in the 4th quarter. With Ray Lewis still sitting on the sideline it was Terrell Suggs who led the Ravens D once again with three sacks and three forced fumbles.

Record = 2-0

ATL Falcons beat CAR Panthers by 8
Original prediction: Let’s go with an upset and say Carolina to win by 3.

When the Falcons were down by 16 points I felt quite smart with predicting a Panthers upset! Then Atlanta scored 24 unanswered points and Matt Ryan earned the victory to keep the Falcons in the playoff hunt. Ryan tied a career high with four passing touchdowns.

Record = 2-1

HOU Texans beat CIN Bengals by 1
Original prediction: Texans to keep on winning, this time by 7.

With a T.J. Yates touchdown in the final seconds the Texans managed to win the AFC South and will finally be playing in the playoffs for the first time! Seven straight wins for the Texans means they keep the number one seed in the AFC for another week.

Record = 3-1

MIN Vikings lost to DET Lions by 6
Original prediction: Detroit to get back to winning ways by 10 points.

Still no perfect predictions, but the winning ways continue with a Detroit win! This game ended up being a lot closer than anyone thought it would’ve been, especially when the Vikings turned to Joe
Webb. Had a flag been called on the final play for a facemask, the end result of this game could’ve been different.

Record = 4-1

TB Buccaneers lost to JAC Jaguars by 27
Original prediction: Jacksonville to win by 6.

What a miserable season for Tampa fans. You know it’s bad when you lose to Jacksonville by 27 points! 41 unanswered points for the Jags resulted in Tampa losing their seventh straight game and could see the end of the Morris reign as head coach of the Bucs. Maurice Jones-Drew had four touchdowns on the day.

Record = 5-1

PHI Eagles beat MIA Dolphins by 16
Original prediction: Miami to win by 17.

Wow! Didn’t see this result happening, especially with the good run that the Dolphins were on. With three turnovers and nine sacks, the Eagles D finally showed they can perform well when required. To make this game worse for Miami, Tony Sparano was fired yesterday (Ed: That makes it better surely?).

Record = 5-2

KC Chiefs lost to NY Jets by 27
Original prediction: J-E-T-S! JETS, JETS, JETS to win by 4.

Mark Sanchez passed for two touchdowns and ran another two in as the Jets hammered the Chiefs by 27 points. The loss resulted in Todd Haley losing his job for the Chiefs (not a good week to be a HC in the NFL).

Record = 6-2

NO Saints beat TEN Titans by 5
Original prediction: Saints to win outdoors by 10.

Well the Saints almost dropped the ball against the Titans this week as they squeaked out a 5 point victory. Two 4th quarter touchdown passes from Brees to Colston proved to be the difference makers in this hard fought battle. Jake Locker showed potential with 1 TD and 281 passing yards as he stepped in for an injured Matt Hasselbeck in the 2nd quarter.

Record = 7-2

NE Patriots beat WAS Redskins by 7
Original prediction: Patriots to win by 17.

Thank God the Patriots have a potent offence otherwise they’d be battling with the Dolphins for the bottom spot in the AFC East. Brady and Gronkowski tore up the oppositions defence once again with another two touchdowns and 160 yards. Let’s hope the Patriots D improves in time for Tebow time next week.

Record = 8-2

9PM GMT Games

SF 49ers lost to ARI Cardinals by 2
Original prediction: 49ers to win by 3.

John Skelton stepped in to replace Kevin Kolb once again and came away with the victory over the divisional champs. 3 TD’s for Skelton against the vaunted 49ers defence turned out to be the difference in this matchup. No doubt Harbauh will say this is the moment the game changed. Don't you just hate it when the replay equipment isn't working...

Record = 8-3

CHI Bears lost to DEN Broncos by 3
Original prediction: Broncos to win by 3.

TEBOW MAGIC! DENVER DEFENCE! MATT PRATER KICKING! PERFECT PREDICTION! Also Marion Barber choked away the win...that is all.

Record = 9-3

OAK Raiders lost to GB Packers by 30
Original prediction: Packers to win by 10.

Well I was only off by 20 points...This game was over so early that Aaron Rodgers didn’t even play a whole three quarters. With four interceptions Carson Palmer returned to the form we witnessed when he first signed for the Raiders. Packers continue to remain perfect.

Record = 10-3

BUF Bills lost to SD Chargers by 27
Original prediction: Chargers to win by 6.

The slim hopes the Chargers have for making the playoffs remain alive with this blowout victory over the Bills. Three Rivers TDs and 100+ rushing yards from Ryan Matthews restored the belief in San Diego for the time being. With their sixth straight loss, the Bills are eliminated from playoff contention.

Record = 11-3

1.20AM GMT Game

DAL Cowboys lost to NY Giants by 3
Original prediction: Giants to win by 7 and return to the top spot in the NFC East.

I BELIEVE IN ELI! Manning threw two late touchdowns with less than 3 minutes 14 seconds remaining in the game to end the Giants four game losing streak and reclaim the top spot in the NFC East. Jason Pierre Paul balled out with two sacks, a forced fumble and a blocked FG!

Record = 12-3

Monday Night Football

STL Rams lost to SEA Seahawks by 17
Original prediction: Seahawks to win by 13

Nothing has gone right for St Louis this season and a visit to their divisional rivals wasn’t the remedy they were hoping for. Marshawn Lynch did what he does and beasted the St Louis defence (Get off me childs play!) for his fifth straight 100 yard game.

Record = 13-3

New overall record = 65-27
