After reporting on his departure from MMU with the statement from the club we were contacted by Jim Blinkhorn himself who wanted to give a statement himself.
Jim responded to the statement with the following comment:
Trouble in paradise (well... Manchester)?
Jim responded to the statement with the following comment:
"I just want to set the record straight.
I did not step down from the MMU Head Coaching job. I was fired for standing up to verbal bullying that had been ongoing to players and my son’s girlfriend since the beginning of the season by committee members.
I don’t think I should be portrayed as having walked out on them. It was taken out of my hands by the committee who, unfortunately have the power. My son won’t ever play for them whilst they are on the team
Most team members are fully aware of what really happened.
Irreconcilable differences they most certainly are!"
Trouble in paradise (well... Manchester)?
Does not surprise me one bit tbh! A team full of personalities that were bound to cause problems especially when the first half of the season wasn't very successful!
ReplyDeleteWhat personalities do you speak of?
ReplyDeleteWay to go MMU! Just fire the best coach you may ever have. Well done Jim I agree 100% with what he has done and I would do the exact same if I was in that situation with my team. Coaching is tough enough without having to deal with other external non football issues.
ReplyDeleteYou don't get this in the NFL...
ReplyDeleteso committee members bullying team members? wtf for?
ReplyDeleteunacceptable
Jim Blinkhorn is one of the worst coaches to ever grace the football field. Who cares how he left or if he got fired, just be glad he's gone.
ReplyDeleteJim Blinkhorn one of the worst coaches to ever grace the football field? Bitch, please! He's a great coach. Good luck replacing him, MMU.
ReplyDelete55, shut up you fucking ass clown. You've already admitted you've 'served' *GAY* two years under Blinkhorn (which might I add, probably means you're Wank too) so take your bias opinion and do one. How many games has jim Blinkhorn won in the past 3 years?
ReplyDeleteCould the world not have done without this statement? It only serves to inflame a dead story.
ReplyDeleteJim Blinkhorn is a Joke.. Played and coached against him for an number of years.. What a stuck up prick! There's a reason he's been in and out of every team in the NW.
ReplyDeleteJim is a good guy and fair play to him, The MMU faggots obviously read Uni Lad, instead of their playbook. Fold in the coming weeks
ReplyDeletedouble cov.any chance of getting the full report of what actually happened.
ReplyDeletelove the people on here mouthing off whilst hiding behind the anonymous tag,
ReplyDeleteCan see this escalating back and forth,
Plus if this kind of verbal bullying really is going on then surely there are steps that can be taken, especially if blinkhorn can get support from other people within the organisation.
ReplyDeleteCompared to what Coach Blinkhorn knows and has done for football in this country the MMU committee's effort on and off the field can be written on a stamp. Another example of the old English football disease of the the tail (the players / committee) wagging the dog, and people dressing up to pretend to play real grown up football.
ReplyDeleteRemember this "it is when people are at their most powerful that they often sow the seeds of their own misfortune".
For the time and voluntary effort Coach Blinkhorn put into the MMU programme as he does at any team) you should be kissing his feet.
From a rather civilised statement from MMU to a very personal and attacking and childish one from Blinkhorn. Looking at Blinkhorns recent success, there is none. He hasn't won a game in how long? and he clearly had no respect from his players and at uni level players are the committee. From what I've heard the committee has done a wonderful job starting the team up and getting it going and you can't fault them on that.
ReplyDeleteHowever it seems as if Blinkhorn is difficult to get on with and quite petty and has done himself no favours by making this statement. I wish to see what he does next and see if his troubles follow him. As for the Eagles it'll be interesting if things start turning around or they go worse. From a nothing game against Hull It seems like it could be the most interesting fixture due to this controversy. Am curious to get an MMU side to the story or any more info about the team from people who have played them so we can get a more accurate view on things.
