What can usually be anticipated is a slow start from Warwick with an anything but slow first touch of the ball for Calyx Schentrup saw her scamper up the sideline for a length of the field score.

Wideout April Heath then added a further 6 with a pass from “Elite” team mate Chloe Baton for a Bears 13-0 lead after Heath added the XP throw again from Baton.

Warwick’s efficient short passing and running game failed to break any big plays and it was up to Safety Martha Michaud to return an interception to pay dirt to make the final score 13-7 with Erin Robinson’s extra point pass to Carly Moorhouse being the last score of the first game.

NFL Combine: 5 Players With a Point to Prove

It's almost combine time for the 2013 NFL draft prospects and that means there will be plenty of analysis over the most minute details. As with every year there's a few guys out there who can massively help their money earning potential with a big performance in Indianapolis, so here are a few of the names that you need to keep an eye during their on field workouts.

Eddie Lacy – RB, Alabama

As a 'Bama back, Lacy has a couple of tough acts to follow.

Even though there is no consensus on who is the top running back in this years fairly weak draft class, Eddie Lacy is probably going to garner the most attention. He couldn’t have wished for a better stage and performance to end his college career on after running over and spinning around Manti Te’o and the Irish in the National Championship game. After playing behind a dominant O-line at Alabama his draft stock has risen dramatically, but his straight-line speed and quickness are two attributes that the scouts question and Lacy must perform well in these categories to ease the scouts worries and set himself apart from the other running backs.

The two drills that Lacy needs to have big performances in are the 40 yard dash and shuttle run. Experts say that his 40 needs to come in at under 4.53 to keep the haters quiet.

Week Ten BUCS University Predictions pt 2

Cardiff Cobras (1-3) vs. Worcester Royals (0-5)
Cardiff are yet to play in 2013, but start with a gentle introduction in the form of a midweek fixture against a dismal Royals side.

Whilst these two sides are close in record, I can see Cardiff running away with this as they make their late season charge for a winning record. Worcester looked like they were improving, but conceding 118 points without reply in their last two games suggests that this one could get ugly.

Aberystwyth Tarannau (3-1) vs. Gloucestershire Gladiators (3-2)
Aberystwyth continued their strong run of form with a win over Bath Spa last week, and now sit with a handsome 3-1 record. Gloucestershire slipped back to 3-2 with a narrow, but not entirely unexpected loss to Exeter.

A couple of Aberystwyth players used some choice words to describe our predictions last week – well, when we pick you to lose you tend to win, so don’t complain too much. We would however like to point out that other teams who have criticised predictions in the past have gone on to lose, so be careful!

All this aside, we feel that Gloucestershire are the superior side here, and will take the edge in a well-fought contest.

Week Ten BUCS University Predictions pt 1

Saltire Conference

Edinburgh Napier Knights (0-4) vs. #16 Glasgow Tigers (5-1)

Glasgow is already into the playoffs courtesy of last week’s 39-7 win over the Predators which followed a low scoring 6-0 stramash over UWS in the previous week. Which Glasgow team will show up this weekend?

It probably doesn’t matter as they face one of the country’s lowest scoring offenses in the Knights.

The Knights lost season has been a bit of a head scratcher to Saltire observers and it may be that confidence has taken a hit as the losses continue to mount.

Technically the Tigers could still top the division but they’d probably have to average 100 points a game from here on in, or take advantage of Stirling’s backlog of fixtures.

Last season it was all about Tim Tebow and the Zone Read and QB Power plays, where St Timothy would bludgeon his way through a couple of DB's before rumbling out of bounds or over the goal line.
