College Football in London

Make sure you check out their website: http://bit.ly/15JFNkS

We're starting a movement.

Why should competitive football finish at graduation for those who aren't 260lbs and run a 4.4 forty?

Want to strap on your helmet and relive those moments? How about combining this with studying in one of the great cities of the world?

One more chance.....

College Football in London is a study abroad program that can make all of this happen.

Play football again whilst studying in London, Edinburgh or Oxford. Our Study Abroad Program offers American students the chance to travel to exciting destinations, play your favorite sport, make lifelong friends and enhance career prospects.

With the NFL attracting 85,000 to Wembley Stadium in London every year, football has grown to become one of the most popular sports played at British colleges and universities, and with most British players only taking up the sport once they get to college  you can expect to be a star player no matter how good you were in High School. Relive those moments and create new ones.

The program starts in the Fall of 2013 and can be played over both semesters.

Best of all, 10% of what we earn goes towards funding a program that utilizes sport (in particular football) to improve the career prospects of disadvantaged young people, including some affected by the 2011 London riots. Sport, education and charity, why wouldn't you back us?

For Americans that have come to the UK and stumbled across the chance to play competitive football again it has made their experience the trip of a lifetime. We're all used to seeing excited faces behind a facecage, but when it's someone who's given one more chance they never thought they'd have, it takes it to a whole other level. With your support we can create lifelong friendships and memories for far more of you!

Proven Demand

We tested demand for this program by running a Facebook PPC advertising campaign which demonstrated a staggering level of interest: $485 of ad spend created 181 qualified expressions of interest. Eye popping by anyone's standards.

Meet Our Teams:

London South Bank University Spartans

The Spartans are a relatively new team playing in their third season, in the first two seasons they narrowly failed to make the play-offs having played more traditional power houses right to the wire, much to the big boys' surprise!

Established in 1892, LSBU is the largest and most diverse university in London. The campus is situated right in the centre of the city, bringing together historic landmarks, amazing nightlife, world-class museums and outdoor markets.

University of Westminster Dragons

The Dragons are a very new team entering only their second season of competitive play and are finding their way within the league. Also situated in central London, the University of Westminster offers over 700 courses allowing you to study classes in your major - whatever that may be. The student body comes from over 150 countries and is very popular with American study abroad students for its great collegiate atmosphere.

Edinburgh Napier University Knights

The Knights are entering their tenth season and have a history of making the play-offs from the competitive Scottish Division. A new era began two seasons ago when Coach Pete Laird took the reins. Coach Laird is the current Great Britain Defensive Co-Ordinator and used to coach Div II college football in the US with the Lock Haven University Bald Eagles (PSAC-Div II).

Laird has installed an Option offense and switched to a 3-4 Defense with the Knights considered one of the best Defensive teams in the country. Ultimately though their season is judged on the outcome of the Varsity game against their fierce cross-town rivals, the University of Edinburgh Predators, currently the largest student sporting event held annually in Scotland.

With its around-the-clock buzz of activity, Edinburgh, the stunning capital city of Scotland, is an ideal location for any student. The city is truly amazing, combining medieval Old Town, neoclassical New Town, and award-winning modern architecture. Imagine taking classes in 500-year-old buildings in the morning and state-of-the-art facilities in the afternoon!

University of Stirling Clansmen

The Clansmen are the oldest and most successful team on our program having been Scottish champions on numerous occasions and British National Champions in 2003. 2012/13 is proving to be another stellar season with a push for Championship honors again.

Stirling is situated just south of the Scottish Highlands, one of the most picturesque and historic spots in the UK, where many a battle was fought for Scottish independence. The University of Stirling is located on an 18th-century estate with a central lake and a castle - a truly unique study opportunity that you won't find in the US!

Oxford Brookes University Panthers

The Panthers were spun out of the successful Oxford Combined Universities Cavaliers in 2010 and have been play-off contenders ever since. Located one hour from London by bus or train, Oxford is one of the oldest and most charming university towns in the world, its nickname, “The City of Dreaming Spires,” reflects not only the city’s striking architectural appearance, but also its creative and forward-thinking sensibilities. Today, Oxford is a diverse and cosmopolitan city that has everything one would expect – shops, theatres, museums, pubs, cinemas, markets, and countless restaurants featuring food from around the world.

What’s Included?

Football Activities

Tuition at Host University

Housing

24/7 Onsite Support

Cultural field trips and activities

Medical and travel insurance

Welcoming face at the airport

In other words everything to make the experience safe and exhilarating!

GPA & Costs

We can accept students with a GPA of 2.0 upwards.

The cost of the program will be similar to the tuition/accommodation at US colleges and in many cases cheaper. The best bit is that financial aid can reduce that cost even further as most study abroad programs are applicable for financial aid.

Who We Are

We have been involved with the sport in the UK for nearly 25 years as  players, coaches and team managers. We have also been part of the Great Britain football program which competes against other countries at an international level. In addition we run community outreach projects that use football to improve the lives of disadvantaged young people. So as you can see we have a track record of successful projects and reaching the top of the sport in this country and, with your help, College Football In London will be the latest chapter in this story.

Why Are We Asking for Your Support?

Football is not a cheap sport! Money is required for the equipment and other resources that make football happen. If we fall short of our financial target we will purchase as much as possible, it certainly won't force us to put the brakes on.

We are also looking to build our squad of potential recruits for this Fall and there's no better way to do this than crowdfunding.

  2. Its pretty ironic when the same guy is selling the US college dream to Brits at the same time as selling UK college football to Yanks.
